Terms of Service

Effective date: October 11, 2026

The short version

  • Remark is a voice journal: you record short notes, and AI turns them into summaries, mood, badges, insights and monthly reports.
  • You must be 16 or older to use it.
  • Remark is a self-reflection tool, not therapy, medical advice or a crisis service. AI output can be wrong.
  • Your journal is yours. We only use it to provide the service.
  • Remark Plus is an auto-renewing subscription through Google Play. Cancel anytime in Google Play.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services right away. Remark can't respond to emergencies.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Alternator Studio LLC, a Wyoming (USA) limited liability company ("we", "us"), for your use of the Remark app and its related services. By creating an account or using Remark, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

If you don't agree, please don't use Remark.

2. Who can use Remark

You must be at least 16 years old to use Remark. By using it, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

3. Your account

  • You sign in with email and password or with Google sign-in, provided by Firebase Authentication by Google.
  • Keep your sign-in details safe. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Give us accurate information, and let us know at support@alternator.cc if you think someone else has accessed your account.

4. The service

Remark lets you record short voice notes each day. We transcribe and analyze them with AI to create day summaries, mood scores and tags, badges for the habits you track, insights and monthly reports.

We're constantly improving Remark, so features may change, be added or be removed over time. We'll try to give notice of significant changes that affect what you pay for.

5. Not medical advice

Remark is a self-reflection tool. It is not therapy, counselling, medical or psychological diagnosis or treatment, or a crisis service.

  • Mood scores, summaries, insights and reports are generated automatically by AI. They can be wrong, incomplete or misread what you meant.
  • Don't rely on Remark for decisions about your health. Talk to a qualified professional for that.
  • If you are in crisis or in danger, contact your local emergency services.

6. Your content

Your recordings, transcripts and everything Remark creates from them belong to you.

So that we can run the service, you give us permission to store, process and analyze your content, including sending it to our service providers such as Google's Gemini API, only to provide Remark to you. This permission ends when you delete your content or your account. We don't sell your content, use it for advertising or use it to train our own AI models.

You're responsible for what you record. Only record content you have the right to share, and respect other people's privacy when you talk about them.

7. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • use Remark for anything illegal, or to record people without their permission where the law requires it;
  • try to access other people's accounts or data, or our systems beyond what the app allows;
  • interfere with, overload, reverse-engineer or work around the limits of the service, except where the law allows it;
  • use automated means to access Remark, or resell or redistribute it.

8. Plans and subscriptions

Free plan

The Free plan is free to use and comes with daily limits.

Remark Plus

  • Remark Plus is a subscription available monthly or yearly, purchased through Google Play. The price is shown in the app and in Google Play before you buy.
  • It renews automatically at the end of each period, and Google Play charges you for the next one, unless you cancel before the renewal date.
  • Free trial: new subscribers can get a 7-day free trial, one per Google account. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your paid subscription starts automatically.
  • Cancel anytime in Google Play (Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). You keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Google according to Google Play's refund policy. This doesn't limit any refund rights you have under the law of your country.
  • Deleting your Remark account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in Google Play.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using Remark at any time and delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and permanent. See Delete your account.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we're required to by law. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it. If we stop offering Remark altogether, we'll give you reasonable notice.

10. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep Remark reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties such as fitness for a particular purpose.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived under the law that applies to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Alternator Studio LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Remark. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Remark in the 12 months before the claim.

These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them, for example to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or gross negligence or willful misconduct.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the effective date above, and if a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Remark after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree, you can stop using Remark and delete your account.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

If you are a consumer living in the European Union or another country with mandatory consumer protection laws, you keep the protection of those laws, and you can bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
